"Insane" EBAY Shipping charges to Maldives
I was going to buy a spare drumpad for my broken RockBand drum kit. It seems to me that either the shipping price at EBAY has gone insane or the site needs some fixing. With these prices I can hire a Learjet, fly around the world throwing 1000s of drum pads .... all over the sea.

Madness. I followed your link and there were a few items listed with shipping charges of "$2,753,382.25". WTF!
Perhaps you should consider opening up your own shipping company, it appears to be very profitable.

Its probaly a typo in their shipping weight. There are auto relisters and postal caculators. Mistakes can be made. If your really interested in buying from them, just send a question to them about it. If he doesn't change that price after you talk to him,just call Ebay. That is a violation of their rules to overinflate shipping.
If it weighs under 4 lbs it will be under $12. If its more it can cost $30-$50. That is for Priority Mail. If the are a commercial retailer they have to ship via Priority mail. Taxes are the issue.
FYI Ebat doesn't charge shipping. People who sell on Ebay charge shippping. Ebay is NOT like Amazon. Shipping is dictated by the individual seller. So if there is a problem, take it up with the seller.
