They removed SACD and PS2 backward compatibility, NOW with firmware v3.21 the OtherOS feature on the 'fat' PS3 is soon to be dead.
I installed YellowDog Linux in the first week with my PS3. But I must admit, I never booted to Linux after the following month. Maybe for the reason, YLD had it's limitations back then; like no Flash or wireless controller support.
My fat PS3 died with YLOD this Feb, with a Slim I really don't have a reason to complain the Other OS demise.
But its a loss for the people who actually run linux on Ps3 for encoding, etc.
I hope Sony stops it here.
And for the people who have precious data on their Linux, use it as a CELL-Linux box or just want to keep their Linux installation, DO NOT UPDATE PS3'S FIRMWARE.
